Printing from MacOS (AirPrinting)
Background
Apple devices are able to AirPrint at Flinders.
How to Install a Printer
- Connect to the school WIFI. Here is the Guide
- Navigate to System Preferences > Printers and Scanners.
Click the + icon under the Printers List.
- Select a printer you want to install
- Check that Use is set to Secure AirPrint.
- Click Add.
If Secure AirPrint isn't displayed:
- Close the Add dialog.
- Disconnect from the network, then reconnect to it again.
- Check if you can see Secure AirPrint now. If you can't, contact your System Administrator.
Remove Old FCCC Printer
If you have FCCC printers installed that are offline please remove them as they are from our old system
Print your document.
When prompted, enter your Flinders username and password.
If this is the first time your are printing to this printer you maybe prompted for your username and password. (By default Apple might auto-fill your MacBook username in the username field. Erase that and enter your school username)
If you update your Flinders password you will need to update the saved printer passwords in the devices Key Chain.
- Select the print option in your application or press ⌘+P as normal to print.
Select the printer you want to print to from the list
Look at the printer name to identify its location
In this example I will use PRCG1401
PR for Printer
C for Carrum Downs or T for Tyabb
Block letter G for G block in this example
Room number 14 in this example
Printer number 01 in this example
- Adjust any other print options
- Black and white.
- Two-side
- Number of copies
Page selection
If you don't turn off colour, you will be charged 5x the the Black & White print cost
- Select Print
- If this is the first time your are printing to this printer you maybe prompted for your username and password. (By default Apple might auto-fill your Macbook username in the username field. Erase that and enter your school username)
- Collect your printout from the printer.
