Background

Apple devices are able to AirPrint at Flinders.

As part of connecting your device to the Flinders network you installed a link to our print server.

Info

To use Airprint AirPrint at Flinders you must be connected to the Flinders Network with your own login and password.


How to print

  1. Select the print option in your application or press ⌘+P as normal to print.
  2. Select the printer you want to print to from the list of nearby printers.

    In this example I will use PRCG1401

    PR for Printer

    C for Carrum Downs or T for Tyabb

    Block letter G for G block in this example

    Room number 14 in this example

    Printer number 01 in this example


  3. Adjust any other print options 
    1. Black and white.
    2. Two-side 
    3. Number of copies
    4. Page selection
    Warning

    If you don't turn off colour, you will be charged 5x the the Black & White print cost

  4. Select Print
  5. Click on the link icon to authorise and release your pint job:

    It will be on your Dock near the recycle bin

    On iOS, you will have an App on your home screen


  6. A web-page will open use your Flinders username and password to log-in.


  7. Approve your print


  8. Collect your printout from the printer.

If your document does not print straight away, check that you are logged into the PaperCut app. If you are and it still doesn't print then try again, carefully following all steps.

BYOD brings with it a new way to print. In the past, a computer would need to be set up to use specific printers, and this required that installation of software for each type of printer available. However, it isn't feasible to set this up for every personal device brought to the college. Instead, students can use AirPrinting.
